I am so sorry to hear about the computer problems.  Not being able to log on when you want to must be so frustrating.  And maybe a new modem may not even solve things.

The only solution I can think of is too write everything out as a word document then you can copy and paste into the forum, email or anywhere else you want to send something via the internet.

The problems with our computer seem to be never ending and it is so frustrating not being able to get in here for so long...anyway I am trying today as the server seems to be up and running....I hope it will stay until I can finish writing this. The computer has been into the shop for a diagnosis....and they say there is nothing they can do....server problems/connection problems.....of course they suggest getting a new computer but there is no way we can do that..I really think that there is another way...and patience will help I guess.....another computer man has diagnosed modem problems...but he also said to buy a new modem...cheaper than a whole new computer but still unreachable for us....and anyway, everyone I have spoken to, who owns a dreaded computer in Bali seems to suffer the same situation......especially those who do not have land lines. So sorry everyone..will keep trying......will click post on this...and then get back to you all soon.....hugs from us all.....G

Poor woman, thank goodness for a helathy baby in the end.

Great news about the new nurse and maybe more help.  It is what is needed and you really deserve to get the Govt. help.

Well it turned out to be rather busy after the lull.....with patients who had a nasty motor bike accident..three female "riders" all of which were suffering facial lacerations and bruising...actually it was a woman in her fifties, her daughter and granddaughter.....all on the same "bike"...anyway they are better now but still coming in for check ups until their wounds heal completely.....Then we had a woman in heavy labour arrive for the birth of her baby...unfortunately we had never seen her before for anti natal check ups....so we were working blind as it were..( so often the case)...She had however seen a doctor who had diagnosed placenta praevia after doing an ultrasound to check on her babies health. This is a serious condition where the placenta ( afterbirth) is below the unborn baby and usually results in a C section operation. We were obliged to take her to the Government control clinic ( a 20 klms round trip ) for examination by a Government midwife....who confirmed our fears and gave a referral letter for her to be admitted to hospital. So off we went to the hospital and Kadek our nurse waited for several hours with the patient until she was finally seen by a doctor....Kadek returned to our clinic....and some time later we found that the patients had been sent home without having had a C section delivery...still in labour. We took her back to the hospital....but the next day she was sent home again.....we are looking into this situation and have discussed it with the Health Department. She finally gave birth to a little girl a couple of days later...normal delivery but resulting in 38 stitches for the poor Mum....!! We will visit her today at home.....Much to our relief....we had a meeting with the Health Department officials on Saturday last...and they have agreed to look into the possibility of giving us a midwife.....on a permanent basis...and to use our clinic for other services...for example....infant immunisation etc.  The visitors were very impressed with our wonderful clinic and praised our efforts....which we were very pleased about.....maybe at last we will see some real help from the Government....Fortunately we have been given a new nurse, who is top of her field...on loan from a good hospital..and she started work with us yesterday...thank goodness for that....Now maybe I have time for other things, like meetings and paperwork..( yuk)....and just maybe I will have more time for forum posts....pc willing that is.

I think the stess levels are high is so many countries.  I just read that David and Victoria Beckham were told by their new accountant that they employed far too many people and although they can afford to it does not look good in these straightened times.  So they have sacked a lot of the staff.  Some of them in the England home which they did not need fully manned as they mainly live in the USA.  More misery and stress for those who are now unemployed.  Did anyone think of that?  And here up to 170,000 students who got their "A" level exam results did not get the grades their 1st and 2nd choice Universities had asked for.  Sadly there are not many places for the clearing system to place those students elsewhere.

And who would be an Aussie at the moment?  A nasty election followed by no new Govt. until they can do deals.  We went through that here in Britian a few short months ago, as a lifelong Liberal and now Liberal Democrat I am not very happy at what the new Govt of which we are the junior partners are up to.

Personally life is OK for me but my husband has had his ME worse for a number of weeks now which makes life stressful for us both.  UI praise and thank God he has never had it really bad but at the monent he is always tired and his rhinitis is very bad (that is hayfever only the year round type).

I can only pray that life is good for GLoria and that the connection etc is OK soon.

Do you have SpyBot on your computer?  It is free although the man behind it would like a donation but I think he would say,"no thanks, Gloria, you need the money for your work."  It is a great programme for removing nasty spyware off the computer.  Everyone should have it according to my husband and all the experts.

I am so glad you are OK but as you say connectivity is not always good.

And visitors, nice for you.

The parade by the children sounds fun but a long walk for the children.  It was our Carnival procession last week.  Starts near me, goes over the bridge (Lowestoft is split in 2 by water and only 2 bridges despite trying to get a 3rd crossing since the 1930's) and ends up at our local hospital because that is where the money raised goes.  Yes, we have the NHS here but some little comforts for the patients or a new piece of equipment is always gratefully received.  But, there is always a but, in 1994 a new rule came into being and the organisers have to obtain a road closure order thingy.  And with only a month to get one they found they could not.  Why did they leave it so late?  Well nobody had mentioned it to them in the past.  So for 15 years the procession went over the bridge illegally.  This year the had to stop just before the bridge but the organisers said that people responded wonderfully.  No details of how much has been raised yet.

I will be praying that you get the clinic recognised by the Govt.  You would think they would be bitting your hand off as they do not have to pay for the building and you are always on hand.  Hope you get the paperwork stamped and the clinic has more trained staff provided by the Govt.

It's OK Brenna....no big problems here but yes as usual computer hiccups...I have not been able to get into the forum for a while..maybe as Ralph is working on a new look for our site....or maybe because we have server problems here...even the phones have been playing up. A sign has been popping up every time I try to get into the forum..."connection problem".....so I am not sure of the reason...but today I tried and got in quickly..We have been busy with so many visitors and lots of paper work recently but the clinic has been quiet so it has given me time to catch up on other things...a rare treat. Yesterday we attended the annual "march" of the school children to mark our Independence Day...there were hundreds of children marching the streets in local villages and we supported them with our vehicle and also with cool drinks of orange juice, slices of water melon....and cold flannels for hot faces....it was fun and all the kids marched several kilometers in hot, humid conditions...but they all enjoyed themselves, as did we all....
but today there are a lot of blisters on feet to deal with.....Next week there are meetings to have with officials as we try yet again to get recognition as the main medical centre for this area....and be allocated a Government nurse and midwife to attend to the needs of the very poor in the remote villages close to our clinic..lets hope that this dream will be realised this week coming....send us all some luck on this one please.....lots more to tell you next week......in the meantime I will keep on with submissions for sponsors and heaps of paperwork...yuk....but necessary.

I am so glad that you had a quiet week so you could spend time with friends and do the important work of just talking to the over stressed.

As for the funding I can only pray that it comes and as you say you do need a regular income for day to day expenses.  If only I could win the lottery but I guess I should meet God half way and actually buy a ticket.  Grin

I hope you are feeling refreshed because this quiet period will not last long I am sure.
